Target Audience

CXA-206 is intended for customers running Windows Server 2008 R2 or who are planning to adopt it and therefore need to deploy and administer XenApp 6.5. This course targets the following professionals: Citrix Partner Network members, IT professionals, such as Server and System Administrators, System Engineers, Analysts, Consultants, and Architects.

Preparatory Recommendations

Prior to taking CXA-206, Citrix recommends that students possess the following knowledge and experience:

  • Basic knowledge of the purpose and goals of virtualization technology
  • Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Services
  • An understanding of computing architecture, including network and storage devices, device drivers and operating systems
  • Basic understanding of network security principles

Key Skills

Upon successful completion of CXA-206, students are able to:

  • Identify components included in XenApp 6.5, including its architecture, communications, features and management consoles
  • Configure licensing for XenApp 6.5
  • Install XenApp 6.5 in a Windows Server 2008 R2 environment
  • Add administrations to a server farm, delegate administration through folders and permissions, and test configuration logging
  • Create Web Interface sites, and customize sites and settings
  • Publish applications, content and server desktops, and manage sessions
  • Install Streaming Profiler, create streaming profile, and link profiles
  • Identify policy rules, configure policies, apply policies using filters, and prioritize policies
  • Create and assign load evaluators, assign CPU resource preferences, configure failover
  • Configure various HDX components
  • Install and configure Citrix Receiver and configure self-service application delivery
  • Install and manage printer drivers, configure printing policies and assign network printers to users
  • Secure XenApp using SSL Relay and Citrix Access Gateway, and identify components of a comprehensive XenApp security solution
  • Monitor and track the usage of XenApp licenses
  • Identify key features of additional XenApp components such as XenServer, Power & Capacity Management, Provisioning Services, Branch Optimization
